Seasonality:
Organic broccoli belongs to the brassica family. It is harvested in summer and autumn. It has a central stem which branches into small green florets. Each broccoli head or crown weighs between 250 g and 300 g. It has a very mild taste and is suitable for all kinds of uses and cooking methods (soup, gratin, fried, etc.). The texture of its flesh changes depending on how it is prepared.
Organic broccoli has been grown in Brittany since the 1980s. Originally from southern Italy, this summer brassica has acclimatised perfectly to the conditions in Brittany, so much so that the region is now one of the leading producers of broccoli.
Cultivating organic broccoli
Organic broccoli is planted mechanically in February and March and harvested by hand between June and October. Harvesting by hand allows producers to select the heads at the best moment of their development, thus ensuring the optimal quality of the vegetable. Broccoli is packed in bulk when harvested in the field, and then repacked at the cooperative later the same day to ensure its freshness. Broccoli is packed according to your requirements: in bulk, in ice, in freshness bags, etc.

All of the Pouliquen Group’s partner producers are members of Prince de Bretagne. Organic broccoli is supplied by 151 Ecocert certified organic producers that work with the SICA (Finistère) and Les Maraîchers d’Armor (Côtes d’Armor) cooperatives.
